Shweta Verma, Ramgarh, Jharkhand

Education: MBA in Health Management, IIHMR University

Last Employer: Swaniti Initiative

I pursued my master’s degree in MBA-Health Management from Indian Institute of Health Management and Research (IIHMR University), Jaipur. My post-graduation experience enlightened and guided me toward my goals by forcing me to consider things from the standpoint of public health. During my first employment as Hospital Administrator at Deepak Foundation in Gujarat, I gained a better grasp of the public health system and the challenges that rural and tribal populations experience in obtaining healthcare services.

My experience taught me that medical care alone is insufficient to promote population health, and that socioeconomic determinants of health must be addressed for holistic and long-term development, which prepared me to join Swaniti Initiative as Project Officer- Primary Health and Women and Child Development. In collaboration with the District Administration of Chatra, Jharkhand, I worked on several projects to improve the lives of pregnant and lactating women, as well as malnourished children.

Working directly with District Administration, this fellowship will provide me with the opportunity to learn about numerous sectoral dynamics as well as multi-disciplinary subject topics.
